The Democrats’ presumptive nominee in Maine — already drowning in controversy over Nazi tattoos, homophobic slurs, and pro-Hamas posts — now has to explain why he wrote in vivid detail about masturbating in military porta-potties and waxing poetic about explicit graffiti found inside them.
This week, U.S. Senate Candidate from Maine, Graham Platner is facing scrutiny after deleted Reddit posts resurfaced, including one mocking a wounded American soldier.
The recent backlash has been centered around posts that Platner made from his Reddit account in 2019. Platner made comments about Pfc. Ted Daniels, a soldier who was shot four times during a 2012 firefight in Afghanistan and was later awarded a purple heart. The account “P-Hustle,” which Platner said was his, used extreme language to criticize Daniels’ critical decision making and suggested that Daniels did not deserve to survive.
“Poor marksmanship on the Taliban’s part is the only reason this mouthbreather made it home, he managed to make every possible s— decision possible when it comes to small unit combat.” said Platner. “This video never gets old. Dumb mother—er didn’t deserve to live. At least his stupidity and fat ass wheezing are available for all future infantrymen to witness and hold in contempt,” Platner also posted.
Daniels had moved into the open in an attempt to divert fire away from the other members of his squad so they could escape safely. “You know, tactically, it was not a sound thing to do. But I also remember Murphy’s Laws of Combat: If it’s stupid, but works, it isn’t stupid,” Daniels told CBS News.
Platner, also made jokes on Reddit again about masturbation in a porta-potty and praised explicit graffiti he said he saw during his service in the Marine Corps. Referring to a piece of graffiti as “Hot Rod C**k” and graphically depicting his story of finding the graffitti, and proceeding to relive himself. Platner had also made comments surrounding topics such as sexual assault and racism. He reportedly criticized the black community, and that they “don’t tip.” He also made a comment titled “shorts that prevent you from being raped.” “Men and women, you make a choice to consume enough of a substance to lose your self control. So if you don’t want to be in a comprising situation, act like an adult for fucks sake,” when talking about sexual assault.
Platner also made a post about gun control, “Less guns does in fact mean less gun violence,” citing that less industrialized countries have less gun violence because of their inherent lack of guns. Even though the U.S. is an industry leader around the world, Platner believes the mentality of these smaller countries would suit the U.S.
