A Workbench Strategy poll of 600 likely Democratic primary voters conducted April 6-9 found 64% backing Platner compared to just 29% for Mills. The poll was conducted on behalf of the Platner campaign.
The enthusiasm gap is just as striking as the raw numbers. Among Platner supporters, 75% said they were very certain to vote for him. Only 51% of Mills supporters expressed the same confidence in their choice.
Platner’s dominance cuts across demographic lines — a 44-point lead among men, a 25-point lead among women, and a 49-point lead among voters under 50. (RELATED: Maine’s Senate Race Is Already A Tossup — GOP Turnout Collapse Over SAVE America Act Could Make It A Blowout)
The results build on an Emerson College poll from late March that gave Platner a 27-point lead, suggesting his support has only grown as Mills has leaned harder into negative campaigning. Her recent attack ads have focused on controversial past statements Platner made about rape victims — a strategy that, so far, polling suggests has done little to move voters in her direction.
